The Happy Snail

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I have had time to write a blog post but I’m finally back and I’d like to share a new free pattern - The Happy Snail. The design for this little snail came to me when my 5 year old son chose one of his favourite books - The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson for book week at kindergarten. We had an idea for a costume which was a cutout of a big whale tail out of cardboard painted in blue with a little crocheted snail attached to it. The first snail I made for my son was done in shades of brown but for this pattern, I’ve made it in pink and rainbow.

It’s a very simple beginner friendly pattern that can be made in all types of yarn and hook size. I can’t wait to see what everyone’s little snails will look like :) I would love it if you can send me a photo of your finished little snails (and any of my other patterns as well!) as I am planning on creating a gallery on my website to share everyone’s creations to help inspire other fellow crocheters.

If you’d like your creations shared in the aidie & jellybean gallery, please send your photos to aidieandjellybean@icloud.com.

I hope you’ll enjoy making this cute little snail :)

Happy crocheting!
